Students from CALD (culturally and linguistically diverse) backgrounds

Information for students who require assistance with material delivered in English.

Friends or family can assist students during the training stage as long as there is no disruption to other students.

The assessment will take place once all other students have completed their assessment and left the room.  The assessment will only be conducted under ATP supervision.

Assessment candidates are able to bring along their own interpreter. The interpreter must establish their bona fides by presenting a document that shows their professional status, such as the certificate of business incorporation or evidence of accreditation by the National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters (NAATI).

Should a prospective student wish to have a course specifically for them or a group of people from the same CALD background, this can be arranged at a minimum cost which is no less than the combined cost of 10 students.  Should there be more than 10 students, the normal costs per student will apply.  Any and all interpreter expenses are the responsibility of the student/s.

Any prospective CALD student is also offered to enquire regarding the services of Vic Roads who can also arrange to have an interpreter present at a Vic Roads Service Centre during an assessment.
