Getting Your Coxswain Licence
The Coxswain Certificate in Maritime Operations is split into two licences, Grade 1 and Grade 2.
Under the propulsion power limits mentioned above, Maritime and Safety Training's Coxswain Licence courses will allow you to command and operate a vessel up to 12 metres in length along with a tender or auxiliary vessel within 3nm of a parent vessel in the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) subject to designation. This allows you to get real-world experience in an environment that permits holders of Coxswain Licences to operate under certain conditions that may be imposed depending on the situation.
Once you have completed your chosen course you will be issued either with a Certificate I in Maritime Operations (Coxswain Grade 2 Near Coastal) MAR10413, or a Certificate II in Maritime Operations (Coxswain Grade 1 Near Coastal) MAR20313.
