Marine Engine Driver Grade 1

Maritime and Safety Training course, Marine Engine Driver (Grade 1 Near Coastal) is designed for those wishing to be employed as Chief Engineer on vessels with propulsion power up to 1500kw and Second Engineer on vessels with propulsion power not exceeding 3000kw in the exclusive economic zone (EEZ). Successful completion of this course will meet the specified standards for certification as a Marine Engine Driver Grade 1 Near Coastal as defined by the National Standard for Commercial Vessels (NSCV) Part D.

To achieve the MAR40513 Certificate IV in Maritime Operations (Marine Engine Driver Grade 1 Near Coastal) you will have to pass several stages, including sea service, completing an Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) task book, and an approved AMSA first aid course, amongst others. The course consists of 27 units of competency as described below.

MARC007 Operate marine internal combustion engines, and propulsion and auxiliary systems

MARC009 Operate & monitor marine internal combustion engines, propulsion plant & auxiliary systems
MARC010 Operate electrical systems
MARC013 Operate auxiliary machine systems up to 1500kw
